RUNNING WITH DOGS

If you’re eager to take your casual jog around the park to the next level then look no further than canine cross-country – CaniX.  This form of dog-powered cross-country sees the competitor strapped to their pouch(s) who then pull them around the course (which is usually 5km).

The races take place around the country from September to May and it’s an increasingly popular sport among women who make up about 60% of the field.  The event organiser, Eileen Cook says this:

It’s for everybody – beginners and elite runners alike.  As long as you have a moderately fit dog – whether it’s a tiny Papillon, a giant Great Dane or anything in between- you can take part…..

You definitely don’t have to be super fit- there are new beginner-level entrants and elite athletes in every race.  You just run at the pace that suits you and your dog, and most importantly, enjoy yourself”.
